Surf Instructor Certification Training

The NSSIA is an official IRS non-profit organization dedicated to fostering surf etiquette, water safety, and quality instruction programs through professional instructor development and certification, school accreditation, and educational research.
 
The next NSSIA instructor certification class will be held in
Huntington Beach, July 10-11.
To be eligible to attend, instructor applications must be received in the NSSIA offices by June 11th.

Interested applicants must have their instructor application and $35 submitted to NSSIA at least three weeks prior to enrolling in the class. There is an additional $50 fee to attend the class itself.

***Formal instructor training classes are appx 20 hours or more depending on specific needs and instructor backgrounds. They include both classroom and on the beach sessions. Costs depend on the number of participants. To schedule a California or Mexico class for your school, contact Kim Hamrock. To schedule a Florida class, contact Lou Maresca. To schedule in Puerto Rico, contact Chino Sue A Quan. For New England, contact Peter Pan, and for the Mid-Atlantic region, contact Bruce Gabrielson. For other parts of the world, contact either Lou or Kim.
Individuals who want to become NSSIA certified surf instructors, but who have no experience working as a surf instructor at a surf school, can take the training course to waive the previous experience requirement in the surf instructor certification requirements. A candidate must otherwise meet or exceed the rest of the NSSIA certification requirements.

ALL CANDIDATES MUST MEET ALL OTHER REQUIREMENTS FOR SURF INSTRUCTOR CERTIFICATION OTHER THAN THE PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT TO QUALIFY FOR CERTIFICATION.
